Fjordbyen i Aalborg

Lidt mere retro feel

Men fuck, Clean Boys spiller fedt!

Is på ballerne

Is på ballerne.

Leave Your Phone at Home

Yesterday, coming home from a walkabout, I walk past a younger couple. The woman had one of the kids in a trolley, the dad was walking with a young boy in one hand - and thumbing through his phone with the other, while they are walking. What need do you have of thumbing through your phone, when you're out with your kid? And he was a hipster too - you know what? Growing a beard, sticking a ring in your nose and working in advertising, does not make you creative - and when you're with your kids - focus your attention on them and put your phone in your pocket.

The shot attached is called Dancing Dad and was part of an exhibit on Aarhus.

Dementia, Normalcy & a Dwarf Tween

I am on my way to Horsens, sitting at the train station in Aarhus. A dwarf woman (what is the correct term?) passes me with he two kids, one a tween, I am fairly sure. I don't think I've seen that - and as unique as it was, all I saw, was the beauty of normalcy - and two amazing kids - which means the mom must be awesome. Brilliant experience. Shortly after a woman in sporty slacks, probably 65+, looking like.....you know, those active pensionists - actually, she looked great. But she was yelling.....at nobody, and had completely lost the plot, and her mind.

I obviously didn't shoot this. But did you notice the contrast? Both in the two descriptions, but also in the old woman - they were seconds apart, yet worlds too. What image would fit? I attached two, one is called Dementia, and is from a series/exhibit called Peril - the second one reminds me that small things are often very awesome.

Criminal by Coincidence

Some months back, actually in the spring. I was on my way home from a coaching session. I know quite a few girls, whom like flower shots, and I spot something in a garden, that I want to shoot. The lot next to this house is empty, so I shoot from the side, and take great care to show I am *not* shooting their windows, or any persons. I prop up the tele and shoot a few times, then move on.

As I am walking down the road, I get the sense that I am being followed, but I have La Coka Nostra going in my ears, which was irony - but I'll get to that. I ignore the feeling and I don't turn to look. Then I get the feeling again, and this time, I am sure someone is yelling. I turn around, and I see two police officers running toward me. I immediately know what the problem is - or at least I think I do. Even before the first one reaches me, I am smiling at him, flipping up the screen, so he can see that I am no stalker. He looks and says 'a few more' - I let him know, I was shooting the flowers (they were fuckin pink, he must have thought......). Turns out that wasn't the problem - no.....I simply looked like a criminal on top of my behaviour. I smiled at him, and told him that I hardly dressed like bankers and politicians. To his defence he laughed. But you have to wonder what we, out of fear, think are criminals - while the ones we often trust with our money, kids' education etc, are often the real criminals.

Here are the flowers for your viewing pleasure.

Louise Juul - finding a concept

I met up with Louise yesterday to talk and shoot some. There was no real plan, and it's about finding what is just right for her and her next batch of songs. On a personal level it was a nice afternoon, as I haven't seen Louise in years - and I realised I really missed that smile. These are not for the project - but I just want to show you how easy my job is sometimes. I don't think we hit the right concept yesterday - however, the model was stunning. http://www.louisejuul.dk/biography/

Album Cover Art - hip hop - Young Talent Movement

I have been working with a new Danish hip hop outfit. Doing incognito shots and developing concept. Check them out on spotify - YTM. Shooting a punk cover band this weekend - I will post more from the YTM sessions as soon as the guys give the go ahead. https://www.instagram.com/youngtalent https://www.youtube.com/channel/uc6kv4axjdlfo29ab_dg4cdg

Portfolio//Skuespiller//Steffen Nielsen
